My painful rash

12 October, 2008 (06:43) | 403 | By: andres

Last week I noticed I was starting to itch really bad on my right side around from my back.  It was really hurting quite a bit too, more pain than I had ever felt before.

I went to my doctor earlier this week and I had never heard of it but he diagnosed me with shingles disease.  I didn’t know anything about it and no one in my family had ever had it before.

It apparently is the chicken pox virus that sits in your body until you are older and sick at some time in your life.  When your immune system goes down, the chicken pox virus comes back as shingles disease and causes a painful rash.

The thing i didn’t know is that once you have it, you can never get rid of it.  Well, I guess it’s just another fact of life.  I know there is some vaccines for it and other treatments so begins the attempts to get rid of the pain!

Analog Pass-Through A Must

4 October, 2008 (00:19) | 403 | By: andres

When converter boxes first came out on the market many manufacturers didn’t include the analog pass-through function with their converter boxes.  I recently hooked up a converter box that didn’t have analog pass-through and lost 3 channels.  I have decided that having the analog pass-through function is an absolute “must have”.  Without it you risk losing channels that you ordinarily would watch. When shopping for a converter box you should be sure that you check to make sure that the converter box you get has analog pass-through.  Many companies have already come out with upgraded versions of their original digital converter boxes but there are still plenty on the market that do not include analog pass-through.

Little Guys Can Have Business Credit Cards Too

While I enjoy being self employed, I can’t stand anything to do with managing the finances.  Bookkeeping, accounting, bank statements, expenses blah blah blah.  It puts me to sleep and prevents me from spending time on the parts of my business that actually make me money.  My banker guy suggested today that I get a dedicated small business credit card.  I have been running everything through my personal air miles card which seems to aggrivate my tax guy to no end.  I like to order inventory on terms and then pay within 30 days on the plastic and then pay the credit card bill before the interest kicks in.  Gives me almost 2 months interest free before I have to make a payment.  I thought those cards were just for bigger outfits, but it turns out that they have them for small and medium size enterprises as well so I told him to set me up with one.  Hey anything I can do to help keep things neat and orderly right? Ha ha.
